DIGITAL TV TRANSITION

PSC logo

In early 2009, Congress changed the date for analog to digital transition from February 17, 2009 to June 12, 2009. As of June 13, 2009, full power television stations will only broadcast digital, over-the-air signals. Your local broadcasters may make the transition before then, and some already have.

Beginning at midnight on February 17, 2009, all full-power television stations will completely cease all analog broadcasting and start digital broadcasting (DTV) exclusively. This means that analog television sets currently receiving free TV using an antenna will not work after February 17, 2009. Television viewers with these sets that are not connected to a pay TV service will need to take action before February 17, 2009, to ensure their TV sets continue to work.

The Delaware Public Service Commission has created this webpage providing links about the transition from analog to digital television and what consumers can do to ensure they will continue receiving television after February 17, 2009. Please note that while the Delaware Public Service Commission has no regulatory jurisdiction over this transition, we are interested in seeing that consumers are aware of the transition and what actions they need to take.
